Next up at HOSTESS CLUB WEEKENDER in Tokyo on Saturday was UK’s adored indie-folk trio DAUGHTER. The last time we caught Daughter was during their last stint in Japan at 2013’s Fuji Rock Festival in Niigata, and the group were ecstatic to be back in the country, graciously thanking the audience throughout their set.
Since Fuji Rock, they’ve gone on to win the AIM Album of the Year Award for 2013 and have snagged themselves a whole new plethora of tour dates for 2014.
The three-piece from London, consisting of Elena Tonra on vocals, Igor Haefeli on guitar and Remi Aguilella on drums, are still touring on their debut album If You Leave, released in March last year, and on Saturday played the record in almost its entirety to the delight of fans in attendance.
With moody lighting, Daughter wowed their audience with a passionate performance for which the group has become renowned, particularly for hit track Youth during which seemingly the entire audience provided enthusiastic backing vocals.
Daughter will join Hostess Club Weekender co-stars The National again shortly, supporting them for six dates in the US before proceeding to Coachella, plus some dates in Europe later this year.
