Photos of the anti-dancing law protest zombie flash mob, starting off at the legendary Hachiko meeting spot, moving across Shibuya Crossing and ending in the busy shopping area of “Basketball-gai” (previously “Center-gai”). Protestors held up banners and chanted “No Dance — No Life!” as crowds gathered to support the public statement, in protest of the antiquated occasionally enforced so-called anti-dancing law dating from as far back as 1948. As dancers strutted to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in Shibuya’s central street, passersby joined in and cheered on the bold action. Although crowds were soon scattered by police, Tokyo’s youth seems determined to keep up the pressure on authorities to do something about the outdated regulation.
