Continuing our highlights from Day 2 of FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2013…
Next up on the Green Stage was Oscar-nominated American singer-songwriter legend AIMEE MANN, who after some initial technical difficulties was able to open up her set to an appreciative audience.
Playing in rock groups since the 80s, namely in the band Til’ Tuesday, Mann went on to pursue a successful solo career during which she released 8 studio albums. Her successful rock stylings have lead her and the band to partake in numerous tours, have their music featured in films (“Magnolia”) and to even feature on some television shows (Mann and her band played on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “The West Wing”).
The band’s set was not overly physical or showy, a humble and mature approach more suited to an artist who’s been performing for the past thirty years. Mann, also known and loved for her quirky and dry sense of humour, at one point joked, “Thanks to Fuji Rock for taking a chance on a young band like us.”
Mann is now on an extensive tour through the US promoting latest album “Charmer.”
