The first of our highlights from DAY 1 of the legendary FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2013 which took place in Yuzawa, Niigata, Japan.
Often described as an electronic duo, Korea’s PEPPERTONES regaled their loyal fans with poppy goodness at day 1 of Fuji Rock Festival this year. Members Noshel and Sayo performed as a five-piece band on the Friday, playing a set rendering them more suitably categorised as indie pop.
A small but tightly packed crowd had formed half an hour before the two were set to emerge, and was comprised mainly of young women who, upon spotting the duo emerging from backstage, reacted with such vigour you’d think the Beatles had appeared. While their haircuts may bear a striking resemblance to those sported by the Beatles back in the day, their music is quite different: very cutesy and poppy tunes catchy enough to get audience members jiving.
After playing a spattering of tracks from their four LPs and two EPs, bassist Noshel thanked the crowd in several different languages, reading from a small note he’d prepared earlier to the screams of adoring fans from each respective country.
