Continuing our highlights from DAY 1 of FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2013…
Pouring rain and thunderstorms weren’t enough to stop NIN from performing their headlining slot on Day 1 of the festival, nor were they enough to turn away their huge fan base. Unsurprisingly, thousands endured heavy rain, thunder and lightning to witness the industrial rock marvels perform for the first time since 2009 on the massive Green Stage, and they were not disappointed.
The set began with a solitary Trent Reznor in the middle of the stage, followed by the remaining band members filing onstage one by one carrying their instruments to join him, playing the world premiere of track “Copy Of A,” for which the audience went absolutely mental. The lighting effects were frantic and edgy, increasing the intensity, the onstage lighting such that giant looming shadows of each band member were projected up on to the background. NIN premiered two brand new tracks (“Copy Of A” and “Find My Way”) during their charged set of a whopping 21 tracks, closing with “Head Like a Hole” and “Hurt.”
Reznor and co. undoubtedly showed the world that they haven’t lost the spark that made NIN’s live performances so famous in the first place, and we can look forward to extensive tours throughout the US this September.
